Rental Car

When your car goes in for repair after an accident, you can drive a rental car to the value of $100 a day for up to 21 days. If a rental or loan car is not available receive $50. travel allowance per day for up to 21 days.

Removal of basic excess on your windscreen claim

Choose this option to remove the basic excess on two repair claims and one replacement claim per policy year for window glass or windscreen damage. Your No Claim Bonus is not affected by these claims. The broken windscreen or window glass has to be the only damage to the vehicle.

No Claim Bonus Protection

No Claim Bonus Protection allows you to claim one at-fault accident a year without losing your No Claim Bonus. Protects your No Claim Bonus in the event of an at-fault accident, or a claim where the responsible party can't be identified, or a claim where your car is damaged by nature or wildlife. Eligibility criteria apply.

Restricted Drivers

Reduce your premium by restricting your policy to drivers who are 25 years of age or over. A restricted driver excess of $2,500 will be applied in the event of an accident where the driver is under 25.

Yes. If your son/daughter is involved in an accident while driving your vehicle and is not listed as a nominated driver on your insurance, he/she may have to pay the undeclared young driver excess, and the age excess (if he/she is under the age of 25), and also the basic excess applicable to the policy, on condition that TIO accepts the claim.
To have a non-standard accessory - such as a music player - covered under your car insurance policy, you need to let TIO know the details and value of the accessory. You need to do this for all non-standard accessories as well as modifications that you have made to the vehicle to ensure you are covered in the event of a car insurance claim. Remember to also keep a record of your purchases.
In addition to the basic excess, he/she will also be required to pay the age excess. All excesses are displayed on our car insurance policy schedule.
You can’t cover your windscreen only. Windscreen cover is available as part of our Comprehensive Car Insurance.
Comprehensive Car Insurance covers damage to your vehicle, loss of your vehicle or property, theft, and damage to other people's property, such as their vehicle. Third Party Property Damage (Legal Liability) Car Insurance provides cover for damage or loss against someone else's property (e.g. in the event of a covered accident). Third Party Fire and Theft Car Insurance adds cover in the event of your vehicle being stolen or catching fire.
