Road Safety

TIO's purpose is to build confidence and resilience in the Northern Territory community.

As administrators of the NT Government Motor Accidents Compensation Scheme, TIO is dedicated to improving road safety in the Territory.

Tragically, one person dies and ten people are seriously injured on Northern Territory roads each week. Territory road users are three times more likely to be killed than road users anywhere else in Australia.

TIO has made a conscious decision to align its sponsorship and community engagement activities to provide lasting benefits to the Territory.

With a keen interest in road safety, TIO has two community engagement programs designed to engage with audiences in a meaningful way:

•  Party Safe Program
•  Play It Safe Program

 

Other road safety activities include NT Police Enforcement Support campaigns and indigenous road safety support. 

Our goal is to influence safe behaviours for all road users to minimise the death and injury on Territory roads, and improve the road safety culture in the NT.
