Bruce Carter BEC MBA FCA

Bruce is the managing Partner of Ferrier Hodgson in South Australia, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chairman of the SA Economic Development Board, President of the National Heart Foundation, a Board Member of South Australia Motor Sports and various private entities.

Peter Caldwell
Peter Caldwell BA (Hons Econ); PSM; FAICD

Peter is the Deputy Under Treasurer with Northern Territory Treasury and the Assistant Utilities Commissioner (part time) for the Northern Territory.  He has over 30 years experience in the public sector having held directorship positions in Economic Policy and Capital Resources, within the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government.  Peter is a current director or member on the boards of NT Gas Pty Limited; NT Gas Distribution Pty Limited; AustralAsia Railway Corporation; Catholic Education Council; Darwin Procurement Board member (NT Government).

John Hand ANZIIF (Snr Assoc) CIP

John is the Insurance Commissioner with Queensland Treasury. He has 35 years insurance experience predominately in liability insurances, personal accident compensation schemes of workers' compensation and compulsory third party motor vehicle insurance. Since the early nineties he has been in policy development and involved in reviews of statutory insurance schemes.

Roger Davis BEC (HONS) CPA M.PHIL (OXON)

Roger is a Consulting Director at Rothschild Australia Ltd, is past Chairman of Pengana Hedgefunds Ltd and Korea Exchange Bank Australia Ltd and is a Director of Macquarie Officer Management Ltd, Aristocrat Leisure Ltd and Trust Company Ltd. He also has interests in several other private companies. His previous Board experience includes the Chairmanship of Esanda and Directorships of ANZ (New Zealand) Ltd, Cititrust in Japan and Citicorp Securities Inc in the US.

Julia Davison

Julia joined the TIO Board on 1 October 2010. Julia is an experienced CEO with over 11 years in leading significant, complex organisations through major change. She has broad experience in public sector governance, underpinned by a Masters Degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Adept at working with a range of stakeholders and communities in intensely political environments, Julia is a strategic thinker with ability to engage staff and stakeholders in the development and implementation of plans that deliver both social and economic outcomes.

Julie-Anne Schafer

Julie-Anne joined the TIO Board on 1 October 2010. Julie-Anne is a qualified lawyer, whose early career consisted of 25 years in private practice in Queensland. In addition to her legal experience, Julie-Ann has considerable corporate governance experience as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman on a number of Boards. Julie-Ann brings strong knowledge and experience of the regulatory and reporting environment along with understanding and experience with government Boards. She also brings knowledge of general insurance and strong commercial and legal judgment.

George Venardos

George joined the TIO Board on 1 October 2010. George has more than 30 years experience in financial services, including 10 years as a Group Chief Financial Officer for Insurance Australia Group. He is regarded as having strong commercial acumen and a deep knowledge of the general insurance business, including from an operational perspective. George has strong technical finance skills and has developed sound corporate governance experience during his recent Board career, especially in insurance related organisations.

Paul Tyrrell
Paul Tyrrell BEc, DipCE, FIEAust


Paul retired as Chief Executive of the Department of the Chief Minister on 1 January 2008, after nearly 30 years in the Northern Territory Public Sector.  He has played a key role in many Territory infrastructure projects including the East Arm Port, Adelaide to Darwin railway, the Darwin Convention Centre and Waterfront development, and the Marine Supply Base project.  He is currently chairman of the Darwin Waterfront Corporation and the AustralAsian Railway Corporation.  Paul has strong strategic and project management skills.
