Motor Vehicle Insurance & Repair Industry Code of Conduct

TIO Accredited Repairers play a vital role in assisting TIO Insurance to provide all customers with the best claims service and quality repairs on their cars. TIO is committed to its accredited repairers and is proud to be associated with local business.

As a TIO Accredited Repairer, your business is promoted to customers who may not have a preferred Repairer. In addition you can rest assured that TIO will settle your account within 5 working days from the receipt of your invoice.

TIO is a signatory to the voluntary Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct. TIO requires that all TIO Accredited Repairers be signatories to the code.

Below are key details of the Code of Conduct, and all Accredited Repairers are expected to abide by this Code.

Workmanship

All TIO repair work shall be carried out to produce the best possible results within the most reasonable period of time. We will be providing customers with a life time guarantee on all accident related repair work. We require your guarantee that you will rectify any poor workmanship at your cost, without delay and you will continue to assist and deal with our customers in a pleasant and cooperative manner. If a problem exists with materials or parts we will require your assistance in making a claim against the supplier or manufacturer.

All cars shall be returned to the customer in a clean and tidy condition.

Quotations

Quotations prepared at our claim centre need not list parts to be removed and replaced but may be included if you choose. However, all quotes should clearly explain the intended repair procedure details of which parts will be repaired and which parts will be replaced.

Quotes should also clearly identify which parts and panels are to be repainted and the type of paint to be used i.e. enamel, acrylic or 2 pack.

All other quotations should continue to be written in a detailed and itemised manner setting out R and R items, Repair items, Paint items and Parts required.

Changes to Quoted Repairs

All changes to the quoted repair procedure, including additional parts and labour, must be referred to TIO's Assessor for prior approval. In the event that a part which has been quoted to be replaced is subsequently found to be repairable, or must be repaired due to unavailability of a new part, then the quoted repair price must be adjusted accordingly. Under no circumstances may a repairer invoice TIO for parts which have not actually been fitted to a vehicle. Any repairer invoicing parts not actually used will lose their TIO Accredited Repairer status and further action may also result.

Invoices

Invoices for repairs authorised at the Claims Centre can be submitted in the simplified format of showing the agreed repair costs as shown on the repair authority, plus any approved additional parts and labour, less any credits for parts quoted but not used. Invoices for repairs authorised at your workshop should continue to be prepared in the itemised format setting out individual parts, part numbers and prices.

Advertising

Any advertising used which refers to your participation in the TIO Accredited Repairer scheme, requires the prior written approval of TIO.

Cooperation

TIO expect full cooperation and assistance from all TIO Accredited Repairers. Cars within Darwin and surrounding areas must be assessed at the TIO Claims Centre. In areas outside of Darwin or at our discretion, TIO may seek more than one quotation and repairers must allow access to their premises for this purpose. To facilitate these objectives and in the interests of maintaining an open and competitive market environment TIO reserves the right to move any car from a repairer's premises.

Quality Control

Workmanship, parts used and pricing will be regularly monitored to ensure TIO's quality standards are maintained.

Storage

Storage charges will not be paid without prior written agreement. To avoid conflict or customer dissatisfaction any storage agreement made be our customer must be ratified by TIO. Any existing storage agreement/arrangements cease to exist as at the date you become a TIO Accredited Repairer.

Breaches of the Code

Any Repairer breaching the Code of Conduct, in spirit or fact, may lose their accreditation at the absolute discretion of TIO.
