TIO's Guarantee to Territory Credit Card customers
When you transact using a TIO Credit Card you will be protected by our Visa Security Program and TIO's Fraud Monitoring Program all designed to provide you with the highest level of security and peace of mind. You will be protected against unauthorised transactions carried out on your account as a result of using a TIO Visa Credit Card where you have complied with the TIO Credit Card Conditions of Use and it is clear that you have not contributed to the loss.
It's all part of our commitment to provide customers with exceptional service.

Credit Card application process
TIO has a set of minimum requirements for a credit card. You must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- have a good credit rating
- be a permanent Australian resident or citizen
We then assess your application based on the information that you provide to us in the application form. Please be aware that the application process involves us conducting a credit reference check.
Your credit limit is determined based on the information you supply to us and our assessment of your financial situation. It is important that you also assess and feel comfortable with your credit limit to ensure no financial hardship.
Once we've assessed your application we will let you know in writing or via email whether your application has been successful. This could take up to 5 business days. If your application is approved, you will receive your TIO Credit Card within 10 business days.

How do credit cards work?
Credit cards are a payment mechanism and can be a convenient way of borrowing money. TIO issues its credit cards by partnering with Visa, who provide a global payment network.
Credit Limit - you have a credit limit on your credit card. This is the maximum amount of credit that is available. You must always keep your outstanding balance within this limit.
Purchases - you can use your credit card for purchases in person, over the phone or online.
Cash Advances - you can use your credit card to withdraw cash against your credit card account.
Monthly Repayment - you are required to make at least a minimum payment each month if your statement shows a closing balance.
Interest - you will be charged interest on the proportion of your balance that doesn't get paid off in full as well as other specified advances and purchases at the specified annual percentage rate of your chosen credit card.
Where can I use my TIO Credit Card?
Your TIO Credit Card can be used wherever Visa cards are accepted and can also be used at a TIO Branch, through TIO Phone Banking (1300 130 846) or TIO Online Banking (tiofi.com.au).
What are the minimum and maximum credit limits for a TIO Credit Card?
The minimum limit issued is $1,000 and the maximum credit limit offered is $20,000.
Can I link my TIO Savings accounts to my TIO Credit Card?
If you have completed Section 6 of the application form, TIO will link up to two TIO Savings accounts to your TIO Credit Card.
You will then able to access the savings accounts under the Savings options (for your first linked savings account) and Cheque (for your second linked savings account) at ATM and EFTPOS terminals.
Can I have more than one card on the TIO Credit Card?
You can request to have one additional cardholder added to your TIO Credit Card.
The TIO Credit Card is a personal card and not for business purposes. The TIO Credit Card cannot be in joint names. Any additional card will be issued in the name specified by you on the application form, provided the other person is at least 16 years of age. The primary cardholder is liable for all expenses incurred by using the card and will receive the monthly statements.
What does Interest-Free days mean?
"Interest-free days" refers to the number of days that you will not be charged interest on purchases.
How secure is my TIO Credit Card ?
If you comply with the TIO Credit Card Conditions of Use, you will not be responsible for any unauthorised transactions. Your account will also be monitored for any unusual activity.
Can I use the TIO Credit Card at an EFTPOS terminal?
If you have a PIN, you can use your TIO Credit Card at an EFTPOS terminal.
If you have requested for your TIO Savings accounts to be linked to your TIO Credit Card, you can access cash via an ATM or EFTPOS terminal by selecting the Savings or Cheque options and then entering your PIN.
If you select the 'Credit' option you can sign the authorisation form OR enter your PIN.

Can I change the PIN on my TIO Credit Card?
Yes. By visiting any TIO Branch you can register the PIN of your choice.
Payments
What is the minimum repayment amount and when do I need to make this payment?
You need to make a monthly payment to your credit card if your monthly statement shows a closing balance. Your monthly statement will advise when the payment is due and the minimum payment required.
How do I make a payment?
There are a number of options available for paying your credit card.
- You can visit a TIO branch
- If you are a TIO customer and want to pay from your TIO transaction account, you can transfer funds via Phone Banking, Online banking or via our ATMs
- You can send us a cheque drawn in favour of the card holder to GPO Box 770 Darwin NT 0801. Please make sure you send us the bottom part of your statement or deposit slip with your cheque
- You can pay through another bank/financial institution by electronic transfer. Payment to be sent to BSB: 704 930 quoting your nine digit Account Reference Number located on the top right hand corner of your TIO Credit Card statement
- You can set up an automatic payroll deduction by advising your paymaster of your nine digit Account Reference Number located on the top right hand corner of your TIO Credit Card statement.
If I pay a bill using my TIO Credit Card, is this considered a purchase or cash advance?
This will be treated as a 'Cash Advance' and no interest-free days will apply to the transaction.
How often will I receive a statement for my TIO Credit Card?
You will receive a statement monthly.
